God has instructed His people to pray for many reasons. The most common reason that people pray is to present their requests to God. The biggest collection of prayers in the Scriptures—The Psalms—however, have requests that don’t precisely correspond to those of modern Christianity.
Instead of prayers for the alleviation of sickness of a family member, the Psalmist often prays for alleviatio . . .

The genuine believer’s presence with God is eternally permanent because it is God himself who has willed it, promised it, and has power to fulfill His Own Word and because God will never be separated from his Son Jesus Christ with whom believers are inseparably . . .
In a recent conversation I had with a church planting friend of mine, the topic of the tithe came up, and I thought it might be interesting for me to put down in this forum what I am teaching my church regarding giving.
Having been heavily influenced by the likes of Andy Stanley, Randy Alcorn, and my own Dad, I have become convinced that teaching percentage-based giving is not only the number one . . .
TEAMM has reserved a booth at the Mosey Down Main Street events this summer and is looking for churches in our community to adopt an evening or a time slot to host the booth.
The main purpose of the booth is not to convince people to be Christians or come to our church, but to bless people with a non-threatening Christian presence at a public event, with free refreshments and/or games, facepaint . . .

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
Many of the first believers in Jesus were still members of the synagogue, as if nothing had changed. Yes, they believed in Jesus as . . .

Dear Faith Family,
Can you hear the triumphal music in the background? Can you see the troops marching down main street in line as they head off to battle? Can you feel the honor, the courage, the duty!!!
Progress is going great at Faith West. This week we will have finished the carpet on the fourth floor of the apartments. The construction workers are working their way down to the first floor an . . .
Last Saturday my wife Kris and I had the privilege of watching our daughter Karis graduate from Purdue with a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Flanked on one hand by Karis’ husband Austin and the other by my mother, our little tribe rejoiced at this tremendous accomplishment. There were hundreds of thoughts swirling through our minds as we watched academic proof unfold that our littl . . .

We are inviting you to join us for our next Crafty Day which is a way for us to do three things:
- We get to know each other.
- We get to learn something interesting.
- We get to help other people.
At our next crafty day, we will be learning about not-so-extreme couponing and we will be making blankets for Matrix Pregnancy Center.
If you want to . . .
I plan on starting to “neighbor” the people who live below me in my apartment. We talk daily, why not bring up God? I want to be God’s tool.
Today, I got a phone call from Carol Cobbs who is days away from being evicted. She has come upon some hard times in the last few years. Her long-time boyfriend was hit by a drunk driver and now faces brain damage, seizures, and short-term memory loss, and this past week, she was robbed at gunpoint.
We can bless her.

According to Jesus, the entire Bible can be summed up in just a few words:
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” — Matthew 22:37-40

I’m writing this post to let you know of a few volunteer needs we have for Sundays at LCC. In fact, there are three specific needs:
- Our First Impressions (Hospitality) Team needs a leader
- Our Kidopolis Ministry needs help with the Registration Desk as well as teachers and helpers in rooms.
- Our Worship Band needs musicians and vocalists.
- Our Coaching Ministry needs qualified and trained spiritual . . .
I’ve said it before, but I have LOVED this series. Thank You for helping us realize our mission is as simple as our story. I think we sometimes think too much—make it harder than it is.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 - For this is the will of God, your sanctification…
John 17:17 - Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Romans 6:19 - …For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves . . .
Last night, Carlos Ortiz and his family lost their home to a huge fire. Since it was clearly a house fire and on the southside of town, I rushed over there as soon as I saw the black smoke to see if there was anything we could do as a church to help.
It so happens that I know their next door neighbor and he introduced me to the Ortiz family. They were so broken up by the loss that they could hard . . .
Have you ever been sitting in a worship service and thought back to your previous week? Suddenly your heart sinks because the words that are coming out of your mouth do not line up with your actions or attitudes. Instead of singing “I Surrender ALL” you feel like you should be singing, “I Surrender SOME” or maybe some of the other worship songs in the above video.
